According to TTXVN correspondent in Buenos Aires, the information was announced by AFA along with an image of captain Lionel Messi wearing the team's training kit with the words "Google Gemini". Under the agreement, the Google Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) system will exclusively appear on the official training kits of Argentine national teams. However, the parties did not disclose the financial value or specific duration of the contract.
The signing marks an expansion of collaboration between sports and technology, as AFA increasingly enhances the use of digital and AI solutions in football promotion and management. According to AFA, Google's involvement is seen as "a significant milestone, bringing artificial intelligence technology closer to football culture."
With this agreement, Google joins the list of major brands sponsoring Argentina's men's and women's football teams, including Adidas, Lexar, TCL, American Express, and McDonald's.
Regarding current tournaments, the Argentine national team – reigning World Cup and Copa America champion – is awaiting official information about the Finalissima (the match between the South American champion and the European champion) against the Spanish national team, scheduled for March 27. Lusail Stadium in Doha has been selected as the venue, but the plan remains unconfirmed amid the conflict in the Middle East. Currently, the Qatar Football Association has indefinitely suspended competitions, making the possibility of the Argentina-Spain match being held at Lusail Stadium unlikely.
